aboard EARNSLAW (aka Lady of the Lake)

TSS Earnslaw (aka Lady of the Lake)
I said to DH this morning "dont worry about the messy house today dear, I'll do it tomorrow, I must get this LO finished and uploaded today"...I just cant believe where April has gone...luckily its another long weekend for Queenslanders (Labour Day on Monday) !!! This LO was taken on my parents' NZ South Island trip in January 2001 - on board the TSS Earnslaw...it looks like a fun cruise too!   I've used My Minds Eye (Lush) and We R  Memory Keepers (vintage blue) pps; the beaded hat pin, flowers and Purple Pumpkin buttons are all handmade. I made the large cog using a Tim Holtz dye and the smaller ones are inked on chipboard. Ive used scrappers floss for the buttons and the blanket stitch on the lace. I also used subtle Glimmer Mist and an edge punch on the Bazzill cardstock. I'm submitting this for 3 challenges:
  1. Southern Girls - using GREEN & BLUE
  2. Show Us Your Stuff - (April challenge# 2) using BUTTONS
  3. Lets Capture These Sketches (April sketch #79)
I do hope you're having a happy, peaceful weekend.x.TFL

Friends are the best Collectables...

I have worked out that its the "Silver anniversary" for my BFF Lee and Me :) We met at my first job in Australia, Bain & Company just after Easter weekend, April 1986 - SO...this LO is for you Lee P!! I've used the beautiful BoBunny Gabrielle range of pps because of the butterflies - representing our changes and experiences together and apart over the 25 years. Journal reads "My dear Lee, Even though we are miles apart and we hardly talk any more, you always have a special place in my heart. You are my true friend who 'walked in, even when others walked out" xxx M xxx  These pps and the mesh were in the April kit at A Crafter's Passion and are just what I needed for this LO, as I really want to tell Lee how much I love her and our friendship. I'm submitting this LO for Once Upon A ...Sketch - 15th April challenge and also the April Sketch Challenge over at The Boxx.  I do hope you're having a lovely long Easter break.    TFL Mazz xx

UFC's now...FFC's

3 Unfinished creations now FINISHED creations YAY!! There are 3 today....first up is "Owlcatraz" a place for owls and other pun intended names eg Owl (Elle) Macpherson lol...Designed by Berni Zipf . I originally started this LO over a year ago at her class at Impressive Stamps Australia (ISA)wow I've finally finished it :)
Next up is "Santa Bear", also taught at ISA, designed by DT member Julie Hill as a 'girlie' LO but being me I made it into a 'boy' LO by using all the reverse sides of the gorgeous double sided Kaiser pp. I've made that beautiful flower using a Tim Holtz dye.

Last but by no means least today is "In the Navy (cadets)"..this LO was designed by Geli Duncan and taught at Stampers & Scrapbookers Wonderland. You can see its a bit different as it actually opens up and inside is that cute little ball that 'springs' open with lots of tiny pics all of Lee when he went to Navy cadets. I dont think I will be making another one soon, I honestly cant remember how it was made...all I know is Geli is just SO clever :)

Thanks for visiting today, hoping you're all having a safe and happy Easter weekend xxMz xx

LOVEBIRDS and Love Notes...

LoveBirds

Easter Inspiration Prompt
SO April sketch
I find it so weird sometimes when I realise how my inspiration for layouts comes about LOL I have just finished "LoveBirds" after great deliberation on how to explain...My very first inspiration came from the Deb's Creations' Easter Challenge prompt (on the right) to create an Easter theme LO.  After  considering the beauty of the flowers wrapped lovingly around the egg shape and also the true meaning of Easter... " Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13"... I knew I had to do a "Love" page; Who else but my darling husband, best friend & soul mate to scrap? I must admit he's been extremely supportive of me over the last few weeks - I've had giardia (finally I know why I've been so sick LOL) as well as having a few decisions to make regarding Mazz's Munchkins...so..Ian love of my life,  "LoveBirds"  is for you.  .Now onto the second inspiration - "LoveBirds" is also based on this month's sketch  by Julie Hill over at Scrapping Outback (above) - except that I've turned the ovals in the sketch into the Bazzill cardstock love heart. The pp I've used is from the Fancy Pants Lovebirds range.   Anyways, I hope you enjoy the "LoveBirds" LO as much as I have enjoyed creating it.  There are close ups below ..Some of the hand made flowers were received from recent swaps so I wonder if you can see yours? LOL   and now for the second LO "Love Notes"..This I finished recently at a Scrapping Outback class with Rachelle Minett, the pps are from the Pink Paisley 'Sweetness' range and they too are beautiful. The pages will most likely sit together in my album. Thanks also goes to my friend, Therese Flynn-Clarke who took the photos in her gorgeous Bannockburn garden.  Now all I want to do is wish you all a HAPPY EASTER and a safe, happy holiday weekend. xxxxxxxxMazz

EXCITING ...and not so exciting newz...

The MOST EXCITING news is the brand new challenge blog called "The Emerald Faeries". The very first challenge will be starting May 1st 2011 and will be running as a monthly challenge, giving lots of time to enter the challenges.
The Emerald Faeries would LOVE you to spread the word, come and follow then come and join the fun of the challenges...
The Emerald Faeries promise to have fun and exciting challenges for you, especially if you love bling, glitter, sparkle, buttons, ribbons.......all those girly things we love. So...please pop on over and visit the very beautiful EMERALD FAERIE garden xxx

The NOT SO exciting news is that Mazz's Munchkins' final business day will be Friday 27th May.  With sadness I have resigned from Family Day Care...oh yes I have a list 'a mile long' with my reasons for finishing up. I will certainly miss my Munchkins, but its been a fantastic, worthwhile for me, experience that I will never forget. Of course the blog and Face-book page will also be deleted :(  I'm hoping to return to my career as an "Administrator Extraordinaire" in Mid June.

Twins..

I happen to share Amy & Rebekah's birthday so they are definitely special to me - I've created this LO for April's 5 product kit at Scrapping Outback. There are some close-ups below too. In addition to kit items I've added Plum Sake Memories Mist, Copper Metallic Dimensional Fabric Paint and the Stamp-It stamp that says "a Sister is God's way of proving He doesn't want us to walk alone"...which is one of my favourite sentiments, since I have 4 sisters and 2 sisters-in-law of my own :) In addition I've used the cuttlebug and 2 different edge punches. I do hope you're all having a great weekend. TFL :)

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
