INSPIRATION Award - WOW!

I was so happy to receive this stunning Inspiration Award in my 'inbox' last week from Purple Poppy (aka Sue)....I was just so busy creating for MSR, that today is the first chance I've had to have a peek and accept it.  Thanks so much SUE, I am humbled and delighted. I am passing it on to the following 10 INSPIRATIONS in my own scrapbooking/hobby life, not in any particular order, as ALL of the following have been of encouragement and inspiration to me:

I do hope you will all accept and 'snag' this INSPIRATION AWARD as a token of my appreciation and gratefulness for all YOUR inspiation and encouragement.  {huge hugs}  Mazz wub

6th and FINAL week My Scraproom Rules

"Mum & Dad, you are the HEART & SOUL of our family xxx"
Warning! today I have a long post for you !!!
Good afternoon everyone :) It was perfectly fine and crisp when I left home this morning at 6.15am...for my first job 'interview' in (I think) 4 years.  I have returned home to continue the arduous job of applying for Administrative positions, answering emails and updating my 'networks' information.  On a more positive note I did receive some absolutely amazing HAPPY (postal) mail today...a very humbling, written reference from one of my old bosses. I'm thinking I might attach (part of) it to a page on this blog - in the hope that a prospective employer might not only read it, but ACT on it and employ me   Week 6 of MSR was extremely busy but fun - 3 very different challenges to complete in a week
The Girls
The first challenge was set by DT gals Jules and Trudi...to decorate a wooden spoon in any way, shape or form. so here's my wooden spoon....a great challenge to also keep a promise of photos of me & grandaughters together on my recent visit to NZ. I added a few 'mini pages', using Websters (pun not intended but my son and grandaughters' surname is Webster too) range of pps:
and the close ups:
moments - standing inside a frame at Shakespeare Regional Park

'always' the 3 of us

memories - walking back to the car - after school with Dad

The second challenge, set by Alicia and Joanne, was TOTALLY outside my comfort zone, as I really didn’t want to create another OTP, but I was determined to make it a positive experience, so I decided to 'experiment' . I’m honestly NOT a cupcake girl...so my grand daughter obviously got it from her Mum’s side of the family LOL. In my humble opinion…the ’cupcake’ theme was certainly the most challenging of MSR! BUT the other participants have created AMAZING cupcakes so you really should pop over and look at the gallery at Scrapping Outback - its simply breathtaking at the moment.

Firstly, I cut out the masks and misted the cardstock. (I realise the colour looks purple in the photos but it really is Plum and it does match!!!) Then the fun began…I’ve ‘lifted’ the pattern from some stamps I found in my stash for the bigger cupcakes. The icing on the bottom left is made out of MME pp and covered in ‘sparkly fluff’. The cherry cupcake is one of Rachelle Minette's c/b designs covered with artist moulding gel and 'sparkly fluff'. The cupcake mixer is c/b covered in MME also... here are a few close-ups:

“Mum and Dad you are the Heart & Soul of our family xxx”

Last but not least the third & final challenge set by Rachelle: to create a card or a layout where Eastern cuisine meets Western cuisine OR in other words New meets Old ingredients, as well as trying to use up left over ingredients (products) from the previous 5 weeks' challenges ...well the old meeting new of course is just up my alley....and what better way than to 'lift' one of the designs taught by one of our very own guest masters Tara Scobie The significance of clock stamps and buttons is because my parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in September, so their marriage has certainly stood the test of “time".
My LO "Heart & Soul" was inspired by the master-chef class taught by Tara during the MSR competition. I also took the opportunity to get out my ‘craft’ sewing machine and sewed on the paper!!!    I've used the bright background Jillibean Soup pp as my 'new' criteria.   I truly wish I had a colour photo to show you of Mum’s dress – the reason I chose the cardstock colour. I remember it well, being olivey paisley colouring. The c/b pillar is distressed with Tim Holtz Distress powder and fine brown embossing powder for the ‘iron’ in the centre; in addition, the Heart & Soul c/b has been altered, inked and embossed. The clay black and bronze key-heart on the top left, was hand made by DT member Jules.  Well, that's all for today - must get back to the job hunting...I hope you're all having a great week - In my next blog, I hope to post be the LO's I created for the Master-Chef classes during MSR.   TFL {hugs} xx

Week 5-My Scraproom Rules !!!

“Those who bring SUNSHINE to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves” J.M. Barrie
My Scraproom Rules - Scrapping Outback - Week 5 criteria was a 'blind' recipe...Rachelle Minette set the challenge, based on an amazing LO she had created of her daughter. We did not get to see her whole LO until the finish of the challenge, and the winners we so close it was remarkable. (look at the gallery here) In addition to Rach's challenge, I've also been working on the 'masterchef' tutorial LO's. (The masterchef classes were held over various Friday nights and we will be elegible for points if we participate /complete the layouts. I will post mine at a later date.)
Here is my week 5 LO: “Those who bring SUNSHINE to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves” quote by J.M. Barrie.

I should say here that my granddaughter Paige truly brings sunshine to me and to others, through her naturally beautiful smile and down to earth personality. The photo was taken by Toni Geater, at Arkles Bay, North of Auckland, March 2007 and it was a wonderfully sunshiny day during our mini vacation. the close-ups are below, you may notice that I’ve embossed and inked the leaves. I also couldn’t resist adhering 3 tiny butterflies (to match the “tattoo” on Paige’s arm LOL).

In addition to all above, I'm ernestly looking for 'PAID' work - to enable to maintain this hobby in the way that I am accustomed :) I dont think it is as simple as the 'good ol' days', so I think it will take longer than I had hoped ... oh well, more time for creating :) I hope you're all having a great week - albeit cold here in Beenleigh, the sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky . TFL x

My Scraproom Rules....

MSR competition over at Scrapping Outback...Actually I really dont think my scraproom does rule because I also use the loungeroom coffee table and 1/2 of our dining table to create LOL Well, I can hardly believe we are about to start the 6th and last week of this awesome, fun and challenging competition. I know my DH will not miss it as I've been more in love with my pps and tools than him lately LOL. I, on the other hand, realise that this will be my last week of 'full time' scrapping for quite a while - due to the fact that I really MUST find a job, and spend time on 'other' priorities for a while....oh, back to YOU, as promised here is a snapshot of the mini mini album I created for week 4. The front cover is fancy cut from "Once Upon a Springtime" G45 pps left overs from week 1.
The Chipboard titles are all Dusty Attic.
The first page is DS#1 and his partner and MY beautiful grandchildren. Did you notice that the album is completely made from flattened Toilet Paper (TP) rolls? Inside the pages (TP rolls) there are mini tags that I stamped, embossed and adhered some of my fave quotes.
I was inspired by an album I saw ages ago, and then I found this tutorial - just click on the link if you would like to see how I collated it. I've just finished my week 5 LO and also 2 (out of 3) of the 'masterchef' classes, so I will upload them for you next week. Meantime, have a great day. Thanks for poppin' in.TFLxxx
