may you SHINE always

I originally created this LO for the "My Scraproom Rules" competition over at Scrapping Outback - the photo and the title mean so much to me that I thought I'd share it with you and submit it for a new challenge site called Scrap that song (a song based challenge site)  This month's challenge is to choose from either Shannon Noll's - "Shine" or Taylor Swift's - "You belong with me" and I chose "Shine".  The photo, taken by my son Robin, is of my beautiful grandaughter, Paige, at a fete.

I handmade the little pins with beads purchased separately (shhh told tell DH as I promised I was never going to get into 'beading' LOL).  I've used Kaiser pp and pearls and Glimmer Mist.

The butterflies and  micro beads were in my stash ! I have used liquid appliqué for the feaux stitching and double sided mounting tape for dimension on the tree, mushroom, flower chippie and the butterfly bodies.

The 'forget-me-not ' flower chippie that I have paper pieced, as well as the SHINE chippie are both Rachelle Minett designs.     Enjoy and thanks for visiting xxx

"Cool" layouts

Natural Beauty
I've also decided to submit "Natural Beauty" to the current Southern Girls Challenge photo inspiration challenge since the photos fit so perfectly to the 'snow / cold ' theme - AND  because the Southern Girls Challenge site is NZ based!!
Imagine
Tonight I thought I'd share the last 2 LO's that I created at Scrapping Outback classes with Rachelle Minett.... I called them "cool" because the pps are from the Bo Bunny Midnight Frost range. To be honest I never really thought much of the pp until the class but now I see the wonderful results I love it.  "Natural Beauty" photos are taken before and after the snow fall - in Mt. Ruapehu in New Zealand at a holiday house DH and I stayed in.  "Imagine" photo is of my darling grandaughter, Shyla, in the sand at Mangawhai Heads, also NZ. there are some close-ups too. I didn't get any time to scrap last weekend - I was catching up on washing and housework after a full on week at full time work...However, I did get a couple of cards made (another post !) ...I hope you're enjoying your week...cheers, Mazz xxx

Bai Butterfly Farm

(Thailand 2008)  This LO is one of Rachelle Minette's designs, that I did at one of her Scrapping Outback classes a few weeks ago...I dont usually create 'non-people' LO's but I just love this one. Yes! that's my hand behind the stunning butterfly and I just adore the beautiful colour matching pps. Close-ups below. I'm really tired tonight so off for an early one...I do hope you all have a wonderful fun weekend.  {TFL} Mazz x

the COGS are turning...

"the COGS are turnng"
Today I thought I'd share a LO that I made in one of my friend Geli's classes...Geli is so creative and always has brilliant ideas when it comes to versatility...what I love most about Geli's class LO's is that I can usually easily adjust a 'girl' LO to a 'boy' LO and visa versa. This one was no exception.  These photos were taken on Christmas day 1988, when my older son was just 5. I remember Robin being totally captivated by these pens that made invisible writing simply appear on the page. You can just see the mind (aka cogs) turning in Robin's concentrating brain here...Some facial expressions just dont change and I have noticed that my baby grandson has inheritied this same 'intense' expression (I'm saving that LO for another day LOL).   I've used G45 pps which I thought were just perefect colours for the photos. I'm afraid I havent had a chance to scrap this week as I'm working full time at the moment - hopefully I'll get a chance over the weekend. Lookin forward to catching up then - {huge hugs} Mazz xxx

(my) family 1965

family 1965

Last week I was privileged and totally honoured to meet one of my long-time (cyber) scrap idols, Alicia Barry IRL! I was invited by another friend to a class at a LSS and Leish just happened to be the ‘teacher’ LOL.  I was awe-struck! and listened intently to some of her ‘secrets’ which she said were the ‘rules’ of scrapbooking – eg ‘rule of two-thirds’ and the ‘visual triangle’.  I was laughing at the irony as I had started this LO based on her sketch  for the monthly challenge over at Scrapping Outback and realised that I had ‘broken’ the rules already LMAO.  Oh well, the most important part of this, and any LO, is actually the photo and the memories behind it. So I’m still quite happy with the way it’s turned out. Anyways you should defiantly pop over to Leish’s blog and see her amazing work at some time when you get the chance. The photo in this LO is of my wee family, taken in Oct. 1965. Yes that's me on the little red trycicle :)  and the 'wee' family eventually became 9 !!  I've used the "Wish Upon" Kaiser pps; the c/b is from A-Z scraplets. the little girl in frame embellie is made out of a gold frame that I've sanded back and added Tim Holtz distressing powder and Ranger crackle. The little image is from Sasafarass. I'm also submitting this LO for the colour palette challenge (colours to the right) over at Mad About Scrappin’ and the Southern Girls Challengebring out your inner child’. thanks for the challenges, TFL all and have a great week ahead – Mazz xxx
ps Alicia is even more gorgeous and lively IRL as I had imagined while in cyber space LOL

Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers

Today its time to share this LO - created using Cuttle Bug embosser in one of Geli's home classes, shortly after my dear passed away. I'm sure Rita and Joe (both deceased) would get such a kick out of this - I remember them being so happy and enjoying our theme "Biggles Gets Married" wedding  back in December 2001.  The dress that Rita wore was her own and just gorgeous.  OH and HAPPY NEWS, as I'm writing this I have a JOB to go to starting tomorrow - temp role till 22nd July YEE HAAA xxx Anyways, I hope you're having a great week, happy scrappin' Mazz xxx

P&S UR my AMAZING gift

P&S UR my AMAZING gift
When I saw the colours I just couldn’t wait to get started on this month’s Scrapping Outback white with a twist colours! And then I saw the challenge over at Bird Is the Word is to use the word amazing…so it all just fell into place – I’ve used the July sketch from Purple Pumpkin coz I not only love the sketch, but also their cute buttons (and other candies) that I’ve applied to this LO.
In addition to all this, I just skyped these ‘amazing precious gifts’ this morning, so they were fresh in my mind. I love my beautiful grand daughters so much, and although I didn’t spend nearly enough time with them last month, we had a great time together and our relationship has blossomed.

The base pp came out of my stash and I have no idea where it came from – I just loved the ‘purple’ and had to use it.  the 'expanded foam' under the photo is wine bottle packaging; The butterflies are Prima and the chipboard letters in the title are Sassafras that were left over from one of Trudy Harrison’s Scrapping Outback kits. I just LOVED this challenge and its BLISS being able to use technology LOL – have a great weekend everyone {hugs} Mazz

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
