near, far, wherever you are...

....My heart will go on” I truly adore this song, and I can honestly say the words have special meaning to me, especially because of the distance between me and my grandchildren. {In case you're not aware, I live in SE Qld, Australia, while my family, including sons and grandchildren all live in Auckland, NZ} These are the lyrics from one of my all time faves “The Titanic” – that is why I’ve picked this one for the August challenge over at t Scrap That Song. The photo is of my granddaughter answering the telephone when I phoned her for her birthday, wearing a t-shirt that I bought for her at the Ettamogah Pub, Sunshine Coast.   I’ve based the LO on the challenge sketch (H) over at Twiddleybitz; along with the requested criteria -fabric (Webster’s Bloomers flowers) and Twiddleybitz chipboard (GAT005, Gate with Lamp Post) Other products used: Prima flowers and packaging, A Lil' Somethin' bottle top and flag, Adornit pps (Flutter Flight collection), Echo Park alphas, all else from my stash including the yellow alphas, stamp, acetate, feathers, metal clock, measuring tape & butterfly ribbons.  The symbols for my perpetual love, for my granddaughter, are the (timeless) clock with no hands and the measuring tapes.  So here’s a wee video of the beautiful song, with the lyrics. There are close-ups of the LO below too.  Enjoy – until next time, take care {hugs} Mazz

Little Rascal...

You may have guessed by now I like to challenge myself, by incorporating 1 LO to cover more than 1 challenge at a time LOL. I often end up with 3 challenges in 1 LO... A first for me...this one I have done covers four challenges all at the same time, and yes I'm pretty happy with the results as well :)  the photo is of my (other) beautiful, cheeky grandaughter, Shyla...someone giving her a hard time at a family birthday party - oh I just love her smile and her gorgeous strawberry/red hair! I wonder if Auzzies would name her "Blue" like they did her father when we lived in Sydney?   In this LO I've used Bo Bunny (Jasmyne Amethyst die cut) and Kaiser (Wish Upon, Sparkle) pps; Purple Pumpkin buttons;  Eye Candy Magic twine;  Petaloo flowers; Martha Stewart edge punch; Plum Memories mist; Coralee Creations alphas; A2Z Scraplets c/b words; all else from my stash...Anyways, without further ado these are the challenges (in no particular priority) I've entered into...

  • Eye Candy Magic's August challenge - "masking technique" - for this one I've used a mask that I won over at SO a long time ago, sorry I dont know where it came from however I've used the mask on the patterned pp and cut it out; as well as masking the cardstock.
  • and the fourth one I've withdrawn from - because I've just read the rules and I cant combine their challenge after all :(    Scrap The Girls August challenge - using the quote "Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it. ~Harold Hulbert".

So there you have it for today...I have done another LO as well which I will upload if I have time during the week.  So TFL and have a great week ahead {huge hugs} Mazz

Christmas cutie

Paige - my Christmas cutie
Hello all, amazing its only Thursday and I've got a LO to share with you (midweek!!) Its amazing how quickly this LO came together - because I was 'under the pump' to get it finished...the lovely Belinda Lowe over at the Boxx has extended the deadline specially for me to get this one finished !! Thanks Belinda its been great fun!! The criteria for this fortnight's "Scrapper's Challenge" over at the Boxx and set by the exceptionally talented Mary Bennetts is (#17 - supposed to be easy) "to use Christmas supplies and get a Christmas LO done before it's Christmas again"...so there it is :)  Of course I just had to use a sketch...so I've joined in my2angels' birthday celebration sketch challenge, and used their pps (Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime); 3 of their gorgeous reindeer charms and to 'dot the i's" I have used the my2angel's cute little mushroom/toadstool charms :)  I've chosen the colour scheme {Sushi hues} so that I could also participate in the colour challenge over at Scotty Crafts (NZ)....so please enjoy this cute little LO of my precious grandaughter, Paige...thanks for looking and thanks so much for the challenges ladies  - till next time....cheers & happy Friday for tomorrow xxx Mazz xxx
p.s. I almost forgot to mention the awesome tag at the top right which I received in a swap, was made by the awesome, beautiful, SamIam over at Eye Candy Magic...I love it, thanks Sam xxx

cuddle a tiger (or two)

We had a fantastic experience when we visited Changmai, Thailand in 2008...We actually got to cuddle the adult fully grown tigers, middle size (1 year old) and also the babies. The babies were such fun and they played with us just like kittens...I've still got heaps of Thailand photos to scrap, but decided this was the perfect set of pics for two current challenges...The Boxx Fortnightly challenge is to scrap 3 or more photos, ad some journalling and a piece of string/twine...so you can see I have done that ...Mad About Scrappin's August sketch challenge criteria is to simply use texture - hence this layout. I've used doilies from "Bits and Pieces" by Marg;  lace, string and wool from my stash; Bo Bunny's gorgeous Zoology pps and alphas and the little flowers, held together by staples I've made out of serviettes, inspired by Samantha Hauzer's Lunchbag flowers :) I was truly amazed how quickly this came together for me...I just love sketches to help me get motivated ! I hope you're all havin' a wonderful weekend.  Hopefully will get another one done tomorrow. till next time, happy scrapping {hugs} Mazz xxx

Little Munchkin – “Levi & Teddy August 2010”

I cant believe this is the very first LO I have created of my grandson Levi who whose first birthday will be this Friday (august 12th) – I just cant believe its only a year since all the excitement of having another grandchild and  grandson for the first time!!  Of course he’s grown and changed heaps in that year!   This LO is for the August Sketch over at “my home away from home” Scrapping Outback. Again I’ve sponsored products – the pps by Best Creation Inc. and the adhesives by Helmar (btw I’m NOT being paid for saying this LOL) they were part of my prize for my placing in the recent MSR competition over at Scrapping Outback, thank you I no longer use any other glues besides Helmar because I’m so pleased with theseJ  Of course I really like the bright colours in this Robot range perfect for the men and boys LOL  The chipboard title is one of Rachelle Minette’s designs; I’ve coloured them with ink and Croco crackling.  The pretty coloured/felt embellies are by my awesome, beautiful, amazing friend SamIam over at Eye Candy Magic and I just LOVE LOVE them too J Well, until the next time, TFL, have a great week;   Mazz xxx

Together…

The photos in this LO were taken of my son and grandaughter, at Goat Island, New Zealand.
I absolutely adore the pps that are in Scrapping Outback’s August ‘5 product’ kit.  They are s.e.i and 7 gypsies’ pps. The cardstock is Bazzill. Also in the kit are the Dusty Attic c/b lamp post (DA0152); s.e.i stickers, 2 green ribbons and the lace.  The flowers are cut from the pps and inspired by a “lunch bag flowers” tute I found here by Samantha Hauzer. Additional products that I’ve used that are not in the kit are:  Colorbox ink (cocoa); Stamp-It polysparkle; fancy scissors; terracotta glimmer mist; gold staples and gel pen.  In additional, I’ve used Helmar 450 quick dry and Helmar V2 vellum adhesive (that I won in the recent SO MSR competition) for the entire LO, as I’m entering the Helmar sketch challenge this month too.  I just LOVE Helmar glue and at the moment and I’m not using any other brands as I have found it the best glue out – in the 8 years I’ve been scrapping.  I do hope you all have a great week ahead, till next time, thanks so much for looking….cheers, Mazz   xxx

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
