brotherly love...

...Jona & Michael 2010...
So sorry for the delay in blogging lately....it's been raining "cats'n'dogs" here in Bris Vegas..non-stop, so I haven't had much of a chance to take photos...although the 'weather' was perfect for scrappin' specially over the weekend when I had the chance to particpate in a couple of cyber crop challenges over at Scrap Sanity - where the gallery is looking awesome, so if you get a chance you should pop over to take a peek :)

Anyways, this LO is of my handsome & spunky (if I do say myself lol) nephews at the beach wedding of their Uncle. I just couldnt resist scrapping such a 'happy' photo and I have filled the criteria for February's ingredients' challenge over at Scrapping Outback.

The ingredients are:

ü       1 piece of Pattern Paper for your background [NOT CARDSTOCK] {Fancy Pants, Monster Mash collection}

ü       1 photo {check}

ü       2 other pattern papers any size {Fancy Pants}

ü       2 piece's of cardstock any size {Bazzill - alpha title & matting}

ü       no less then 3 butterflies {Little Red Rocket}

ü       1 chipboard title {Love}

ü       1 piece of chipboard {Dusty Attic sea creatures and shells; Scrap FX cog; fence unknown}

ü       and a sprinkling of flowers [no limit] {top right, unknown}
ü       you may season your LO with gel pen's,liquid pearls,glimmer mist's etc. {perfect pearls, versamark & versacolour inks; Utee embossing powder, Prima stamp for edging; shells, stones, hesian; tag; brown Zig pen; Martha Stewart edge punch; dimensional magic; Helmar - 450 quicky dry & scrap dots adhesives; My2Angels boy embellishment}

     I made use of the gorgeous sketch over at Scrap The Boys for their February Challenge (from PAGE MAPS) - you will see that I've opted to use just the 1 photo instead of 2.

        That's all from me today...hopefully I'll get another chance to create this week, that I'll be able to share...have a great week...{hugs'n'hearts}  Mazz xxx

"Hay, there's not a cloud in the sky - its as blue as your blue goodbye and I thought it would rain...

...The Day You Went Away"
To be totally honest I have not been able to scrap these photos till now..So, long story shortened, it has taken a very long time for me to 'get over' my younger DS (just 16 at the time) deciding to leave Brisbane for NZ.

I have to admit that although it has taken me a long time, in the long run it has probably worked out well for everyone concerned.

My DS is settled in a job and seems happy with his  now 'independant' life.

Since this months theme over at SCRAP TAHT SONG is "break up songs", I have plucked up some courage to finally create a LO these photos.

 Inspired by the song "The Day You Went Away"   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfqusp7s5o0
 by Wendy Matthews... which I think of and have no trouble singing, specially the chorus lines...every time I think about 'that day'.

I have based the LO on sketch #119 over at Lets Capture These Sketches (to the right)

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill; pps Authentique; tag, twine and bird charms: My2Angels; punch: EK Success; sad owl button: Eye Candy Magic; chipboard journal cloud: Scrapware; alpha stickers: other from stash: heart pin, wire umbrella, foam tape, alpha stickers, staples.

Thanks so much for visiting, have a great week - {Hearts'n'hugs} Mazz xxx

Scrapping Outback classes...

Did you know that Rachelle Minett, Scrapbooking Memories Master of 2005, holds classes at Scrapping Outback every other Saturday?  I thought I'd share the last two layouts that I completed using just a couple of the vast range of talent and techniques that Rachelle shares with us...

first up 'WHO Me?'

 oh yes that's my younger son, with his "thinking - please be patient" t-shirt - that is totally him LOL...We used the gorgeous Bo-Bunny pp, and black Bazzill cardstock.

 The brick wall was created using a mask, glimmer mist and pearl mist - I love the versatility that these Tim Holtz products offer.

I purchased everything (except the worm pin and silver fern ribbon) from Scrapping Outback (the toparies and wrought iron trim are from Dusty Attic)

next is a double LO using cardstock, beautiful Authentique pps and Words of Whatever (WOW) chipboard title.

   You may notice that both LO's have borders using Martha Stewart punches.

 These picturesque photos were taken  at the Daisy Hill (Koala Park) quary in 2009 during one of our walks - discovered accidentally by my DH one day when he was mountain biking there :)

SO ...that's all for today...please feel free to pop over to the Scrapping Outback GALLERY for more amazing Lo's designed by Rachelle and the SO team... TFL and have a GREAT day {hugs'n'hearts} Mazz xxx

“A Year in the Life”

I have subscribed to this My2Angels "A Year in the life" embellisment and pp BARGAIN kit - lasting for a whole year, new instructions being sent each month.

 Today I though I'd share my January and February creations - using the most versatile range of Simple Stories pp and My2Angels charms and embellishments to share my stories.

First up  "Jan.1992" ah yes - memories of my 'old life'...my older son started school for that year, my younger son, about 18 months of age - naturally he wanted to go too :)

Next "These are the Moments I want to Remember"...this was just after I began my 'new life' and met my soulmate and second hubby :)

and of course it was our first photo together as a 'new' family...we were laughing alot that day and showing off our wicked sences of humour LOL
I've thoroughly enjoyed the kit so far - I'm learning to 'follow instructions' which is totally new to me in scrapping - as I usually like to use my stash where and in any way I choose.

 I've mostly learned 'measuring and layering'...I'm totally looking forward to March's instrucitons (which will arrive once my auto-payment goes through to my2angels...

Thanks to Tracy for the time and inspiration in this kit {hearts'n'hugs}  Mazz xxx

DREAM

...06 March 1982...
UPDATED....   The photo from my first wedding, taken at Chelsea Suger Refinery, NZ, is of my younger brother (then age 4) and his kindy friend.

 They were just gorgeous, and they remind me of the "Holly Hobby" image - LOL - hence why I just had to create 'rustic', 'magic' and 'mystical' with this month's Purple Pumpkin sketch.

I've used Basic Gray pps [Curio range] and edge punched some of the strips of pp.  The technique is yet another one I learned from Tina at the retreat we attended in January.

 As I didnt have the 'right' colour toadstool [Eye Candy Magic], or buttons [Purple Pumpkin & Spotlight], I splattered them, the K&Co alphas, Bazzill cardstock and other parts of the LO with Tim's Distress Crackle Paint [aged mahogany & picket fence],

 I also misted the pp and the cute green dotty Rainbow Splendour tree as well as a smidgin' of pink 'kinder glitz' for sparkle effect.

 You might even notice the butterfly is covered in InksSentials Crackle Accents medium to coordinate the 'aged' look.

I am submitting this for ONE challenge...the BOXX fortnightly challenge - use the word first in what ever way you like (FIRST wedding as well as the first letter of Flower, InksSentials Crackle, Rustic, Strips of pp, Tim Holtz)
    I hope you're all having a fabulous Valentine's day, thanks for visiting {hugs'n'hearts}  Mazz

"GRACE was in her steps, ...

...heaven in her eye" - John Milton...
I've created this LO in loving memory of my late MIL, Rita Cairns...I thought the quote fitted perfectly when I went hunting for an appropriate embellishment.

  Not only did Rita live her life as a very devout Roman Catholic, she prayed the Rosary for 'grace' and that she live where she was handy to a priest when it came to receiving 'the last rights'...

 I specially used the music chipboard because Rita was an opera singer in her younger days. Rita and her (late) husband Joe loved all kinds of music and usually purchased season tickets to the NZ Symphony Orchestra when he was alive.

I took the photo at Mercy Parklands in December 2009 when visiting Rita with my DH.

I am submitting this for two challenges:
  • Charm's Creations bi-monthly challenge: "to use ast least one heart, misting paint and most importantly at least one Charm's Creations embellishment"

Supplies I've used: cardstock: Bazzill; pps unknown and Tim Holtz scraps from stash; Lovely Lollipop : Charm's Creations (cream & white misted ); quote tag: My Mind's Eye ; flowers : My2Angels; punch: EK Success; heart charm: Tim Holtz; glimmer mist: Tattered Angels (black cherry); music chipboard: Dusty Attic DA0351(at Scrapping Outback shop); Transparent Heart: Kutalicious (coloured with pink kinderglitz and alcohol ink);  other: ribbon, rhinestone, Tim Holtz distress stain (vintage photo); Glossy Accents and Helmar 450 quick dry adhesive.

Hopefully I will have more tomorrow, so I hope you're having a great weekend. TFL {hugs'n'hearts} xxx Mazz xxx
