{SPARKLE}...

..."God's promises are like the stars - the darker the night, the brighter they {sparkle}"
David Nicholas...
The original concept of this LO came from Beyond the Door challenge blog with an inspiration challenge.  I decided to go with the Black & White colour scheme.
After having looked through all my personal inspiration folder I came across a LO in a very old magazine which I have been thinking about; as well as deciding on this B& W photo I've been wanting to scrap for ages, I was totally inspired by the amazing, accomplished artist - Jeni O'Connor.
I'm afraid the photos of my LO are not the best, as my DH had the camera all day, and it's nearly cut-off time for the current challenge over at the gorgeous Lime Tree Creations' March challenge.   oh yes the flowers really are not yellow - they really truly are WHITE !!! <LOL >
So without further ado, I am submitting this LO for the following challenges:
  • Lime Tree Creations March challenge : "include at least one... CLOUD...Create a Layout, Card or OTP and use something from Lime Tree Creations. (I have used one of the beautifully hand knitted (white) hearts (middle bottom flower) that I purchased at their February sale.

<my inspiration for the black, white & grey/silver colour scheme>

  • Bird Is the Word Challenge Blog : The current word, to be used somewhere on your LO is "Sparkle". the photo is of my beautiful grandaughters, whose smiles also sparkle and always make my day when I see them :)

In case you can't work out which ones I've used, please see supplies used below :)

   Supplies used for the LO:
Bazzil c/s; Daisy Bucket designs pp; Bella chips (heart); Twiddley Bitz c/b alpha title; Lime Tree Creations (crochet heart); Mad About Scrappin' glass (b&w)mushrooms and inspiration pack (white flowers cut from cuttle bug die + gutter guard 'fencing' behind the Kiwi ribbon + smallest black disk in the photo under the Lime Tree Creations heart); Words or Whatever (WOW) c/b flourishes; Kaiser and various unknown flowers; Brilliance inks, Stamp-It embossing powders, Verses Rubber stamp; my2angels Diamond dust; Helmar adhesives; stars, ribbon, lace, cloud, rainbow all from my stash unknown -sorry :(

Thanks for popping over, I do hope you're having a great weekend. Happy Sunday everyone {hearts'n'hugs} Mazz xxx

"Family faces...

...are like mirrors.  Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present and future"  Gail Lumet Buckley
...Yesterday I thought I'd try something just a little bit different...(took overnight to dry !)
When I'd decided to scrap this photo (Cotter kids, circa 1971) I really wanted to focus not only on my sibblings but also the background in my parents' front yard...the wired fence and the new housing subdivision sure brought back memories !
For the yellow/gold base I've used some chicken wire and Plaid demensional fabric paint (for a mask) that I'd been wanting to try for ages and I'm really pleased with the textured background its created :)
I'm submitting this for two additional challenges -
The Box's Scrapper's challenge  - #25 set by Danielle: use Autumn colours (I've found this palette: http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/152637/Another_autumn_one), something wooden, bling, fabric or ribbon and either poem or quote.
AND
Scrapping Outback's random monthly chipboard challenge - set by Kim: use yellow as the dominant colour, two or more pps, two or more additional colours, string (woops I've used chain instead lol) and at least one piece of chipboard.
I've used the gorgeous Kutalicious mirror birds to look at the people in the photo, and the mirrored photo corners as arrows.  I'm not certain whose chippie that heart is, but its one that I decorated in a workshop with talented Tina Connolly at the Greenbank Scrapbook shop retreat in January.
Supplies:
DCWV pps; Kaiser card c/s, alphas and wooden bird cage; Kutalicious mirrored birds & mini corners; Bits & Pieces by Marg fabric flower; pink flower unknown; Eye Candy Magic 'Kiwi' button; Scrapware frame c/b; old bracelet gold chain; Tim Holtz distress crackle paint (aged mahogany); Plaid dimensional fabric paint (pure gold metallic); Adornit alphas; Helmar scrap dots and 450 quick dry ahesives.
Thank you for popping over - have a great week ahead...only 12 more sleeps till Easter (hugs) Mazz xxx

...Biggles Gets Married...
I thought since I haven't created any actual scrapbooking pages this week so far, I'd share a special (double page) LO that I recently finished.
(left side)
I understand this was originally a print blocks design and class, but I learnt this one from my friend and amazing artist, Tina Connolly at one of her GreenBank Scrapbook shop classes over a year ago.
(right hand side)
The photos are from my "Biggles Gets Married" theme wedding in December 2001, using the infamous, versatile, gorgeous Graphic 45 pps (A proper gentleman collection), together with products from Tim Holtz (distress inks, distress stickles, dry embossing & cog dies).
You will also see Julie Hill's beautiful hand made 'vintage gold' clay lock in heart (bottom right) as well as some my2angels charms (scroll felt, angel wings, & charming chain with keys).
 The Chipboard title is from Words or Whatever (WOW);
This is now another of my fave LO's...mainly because I totally adore the 'vintageness' of it all and of course the wonderful memories of our day.
Thanks for looking, I hope you're having a great week...nearly Friday night ! {hugs}  Mazz xxx

" Dearest Grandma...

...I miss your smile every day xxx "
This LO is just one of many that I have of my smiling, loving (late) Grandma, together with myself and my DS#2 in 1992.

In addition to having the sketch inspiration, there is Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "I miss...".
I miss alot about my Grandma especially her smile.  I also miss her garden full of beautiful flowers and fruit - hence the watering can in the cluster (right hand side).  I chose this particular photo because this is how I remember her and how I'd always like to remember her.
I have included a 'hidden' tag with a few ways I miss having Grandma in my life.  Grandma was like a second mother to me, and my sisters, and she was always 'there' for me - and was an especially good listener when I was going through tough times.
In addition to the sketch challenge I am submitting this for the "random" March challenge over at Scrapping Outback - "must use chipboard on the LO and Yellow is dominate colour, at least 2 colours of ink, 2 or more PP, and string'.
I challenged myself to use red and blue as my 'other colours', so that I could also enter into the Southern Girls' #40 - colour challenge - Red, Blue and Yellow!
Supplies used:
card stock & pps: Jenni Bowlin; Prima & Kaiser flowers; A2Z chipboard title; TLC crafts handmade butterfly; My2angels rhinestone chain, twine, filigree and distress embossing powder (broken china blue); glimmer mist (turquoise & sun sisters); versa color ink; gel pen; unknown watering can and resin flowers.

I have totally enjoyed this challenge.   I'm very happy to say that I've been commissioned to create a few cards for a friend, so I'll be putting scrapping 'on hold' for a few days :)   Have a great week. hugs'n'hearts  Mazz xxx

MAKE A WISH and Imagine

...MAKE A WISH - live your dreams....
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I have 2 LO's to share
First up "MAKE A WISH - Live your dreams" created for Mad About Scrappin's March challenge with the following criteria:
  • Use Kraft cardstock : Base/background and rosette (bottom left) :)
  • Use 2 additional colours: I've chosen green and brown (and shades of those 2) :)
  • Use book paper: layering my own hand made flowers :)
  • Use bare chipboard: Tiny birds on branches and leaves :)
The photos are of my 2 DS's happily cuddling and still idolizing each other - DS#1 adored Teenage Mutant Turtles - his fave was Rafael :) :) :)

Inspiration for the LO came from the Scrap Lounge March sketch (and theme "the men in my life"):

Supplies used: Kraft & Bazzill c/s; Kaiser pps, & envelope (Up up & away); old book pp (pin wheels); Tim Holtz Idea-Ology wheels; Charm's Creations lollipop; Eye Candy Magic bottle top;
my2angels turtle charm; twine; Scrap FX chipboard; A lil somethin' mist me(branches); glimmer mist (a la chocolate); My Minds eye dye (bird's nest and brads); Flourish with a bling pearls.
I've thoroughly enjoyed co ordinating this. I love the way the colours seemed to just blend.  TFL :)

LIFE IS GOOD

"Life Is Good" is the theme over at Scrap The Boys this month (with red and hand journalling somewhere on the LO) so I decided to re-use the versatile Scrapping Outback March sketch designed by the wonderful talented Romey
Romey is now on the amazing Scrapping Outback Design Team !!!
The LO is of my DS#1 and my DGS when DGS is only a few weeks old. My son simple adores Levi, and after having the 2 princesses, has been blessed with a gorgeous, healthy, happy prince - and I think this is what the photo truly depicts.
I have written a (personal) message to DS on the journal die, hence the word "hope" on the photo.  I thought I'd use these pps beacuse they are so cheerful and colourful and happy, which I believe also depicts DS's whole dimeanour.
Supplies used: Bazzill c/s; Echo Park (little boy) pps, alphas, journal tag & flags (flags handmade by Geli); Dusty Attic c/b (hope); various buttons; my2angels ladybug stick pin and rik rak; onion bag; distress ink (fired brick & mustard seed); dimentional magic; Deb Mitchell's handmade owl; playing card; thread; A lil' something heart bottle top; EK Success (zig-zag) edge punch; unknown circle flowers.
...Thank you for visiting - have a happy weekend {hearts'n'hugs} Mazz xxx

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
