Farewell...

I sure hope you weren't thinking anything sad when you saw the title of this post LOL
...Farewell Spit...
Yes the Photo in the LO is Farewell Spit and the Lighthouse..one of the many interesting places we visited in NZ's South Island during our honeymoon in December 2001.
Farewell Spit is at the very tip of the north of the South Island and looks towards Australia :)
I've created this LO from Julie’s Design Team kit at Scrapping Outback.
The kit does have on line step-by-step instructions, but to get paid the "Scrapping Outback" bonus dollars, I decided to create something different, adding some of my own stash as well !!!

So, I decided to try the The Boxx April challenge sketch
(you'll see its a bit of a quirky one this month!)

Ok, so mine is not nearly as high as the bar set by other entries, but I'm really quite pleased with the way mine came together.

This will most likely be my last post for (at least) April, since I've taken on another couple of (exciting to me ) projects...just for a change LOL -
Firstly I've joined a group over at the Boxx, and we are our very own scrapbook entitled "all about Moi" (yes YOU too can join, just sign up at the Boxx too -LOL!!! Naturally, I envisage quite a bit of creating, possibly research and searching for photos over the next little while :)
In addition, I've decided to try my hand at 'multi-media' art and have started an 8 week (on-line) course called "Heartistry" being taught by one of my favourite NZ artists/scrapbookers - Louise Williams...
This 'vintage lady' is our first 'prompt', so I'm guessing "watch this space"  LOL !!!
Supplies used in this LO:
Bazzill c/s; The ScrapCake pps (spring and summer at the seaside); Glimmer Mist (crème de chocolat, sun sisters and golden terracotta); Manor House flower; Heidi Grace (bracket) mega mask; My2angels bird charm; Basic Grey (Wilma) alpha (except ‘e’ & ‘S’); Kaiser c/b alpha (2x’e’) and pearl flourish; Rachelle Minette “S”; Versa Magic ink (jumbo java); brown embossing powder (unknown); Helmar adhesives; staples; SEI C/b circles; hat pin; cork; ribbon; lace; mesh.

Have a great week ahead all, hopefully I'll have something to share soon!!  {Hugs'n'hearts} Mazz xxx

THELMA 1904

This is the last share of the LO's created over my Easter w/e retreat at Mt. Barney...I think I've saved the best for last I've taken another photo this morning in natural light (above) - although it has shadows I think it shows the colours (pink) much more distinctly...what do you think?

This is a photo of my paternal grandmother at approximately age 4. I dont know where the photo was taken but I'm oggling the background detail of the furniture and plants. I'm also admiring that beautiful dress she is wearing - with all the ruffles and lace.

I created this LO for Scrapping Outback’s April “White With A Twist” (pinkand black) and I had so much fun with this - not exactly as planned, I'm happy with the result never the less :)

Supplies used:Kaiser (Bonjour) pps, alpha stickers and (acetate) bird cage on branch; Bo Bunny pps, number stickers and cricut swirls (enchanted and country garden); Fancy Pants glitter (acetate) flourishes; Spotlight pink pearls; My2Angels pink & black rose, pearl and pink heart pins; Helmar adhesives; paper doilies; glimmer mist (black cherry); organza ribbon; recycled ‘bling’ earring; vintage lace, Prima bird.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog...please leave a comment so I know you've been - it makes me very happy :)

SISTERS 1969

..."a Sister is God's way of proving He doesn't want us to walk alone" Unknown...
Yep that is a photo of  me (on the left) and my little sister, taken Feb 1969 on my sister's first day of school.  I was inspired to scrap this particular photo for The Boxx Fortnightly Challenge 11th April ~ 24th April “A Blast from the Past”) .

You can't see the journalling because I've written on the back of the cardboard, that I've used instead of canvas or cardstock.

Even thought I havent actually entered the challenge, I've utilised the very simple sketch and criteria over at (the new to me) Scrap the Girls April sketch challenge, criteria was to create a LO in the 8.5 x 11" size, which I've never done before, and I have discovered I LOVE this size :)
You will see that I've used ONE photo instead of 3 smaller ones - and I've placed the doily and floral bottle top where the star is in the sketch.

I've also used alot of distressing and cracking to depict the age of the photos.  This LO has also inpired me to join the new BOXX group and tutorial, and create a mini album entitled "All About Me".  The LO is just the right size.
I couldn't crop any of the photo as it evoked many memories...If you can see the hill at the top left of the photo...232 Rangatira Rd, Beach Haven where our family lived for nearly 40 years..there used to be farm and trees all around, and naturally with growth is now all houses with a very busy main road. I've seen many accidents and deaths (including friend when I was a teenager) on that road. It looks VERY different, inside and outside, now, to when we lived there (I will scrap that in the future too!!!)
Other memories include Mr. Day's beautifully kept garden (next door) - you can see the Hydrangers near the 'chicken wire fence' in the photo :)  Those huge green (school) cases we carried to school. I think they were a Christmas 1968 present for us both :) I see in my hand a school bus-ticket - we were about to catch the bus to school, and of the green and white checked uniforms - most likely 'hand me downs' and of course the old fashioned panama hat!!
Supplies used:
Pps: Bo Bunny (enchanted) and Glitz (beautiful dreamer); Corrugated cardboard (old pizza box); My little shoebox acetate rainbow and clouds; Stamp-It stamp (a Sister); Kaiser alpha stickers; My2Angels block rose pin; Helmar adhesives; Crocheted doilies, floral bottle top, heart sticker, pink ribbon (all unknown); Tim Holtz distress stain (picket fence and spun sugar): Tim Holtz crackle paint
(picket fence and aged mahogany); Plaid stencil paint (cactus),Plaid crackle medium (window color); Versa colour ink (pinecone and charcoal); StazOn ink (jet black).    Thank you so much for popping over...I hope you're having a great week...Public holiday here tomorrow (ANZAC day)...Lest we forget  {hugs} Mazz xxx

Punakaiki...

...{Pancake} Rocks...
This LO of the Punakaiki (aka Pancake) Rockson the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, was first inspired by the TwiddleyBitz April inspiration challenge...the criteria being to first watch the video (below),  find some inspiration, create a project using that inspiration using TWIDDLEYBITZ:-
The rocks and beach scenes on the South Australian coast reminded me so much of our wonderful holiday in the South Island of NZ over New Year 2000.
The design of my LO has been based on the awesome Challenge Heaven April sketch – set by Heather Waldron - even though I havent actually submitted the LO - I loved the design :)
The chipboard pieces I've used are the leaves and the Gecko (called a Tuatara in NZ) are  both TWIDDLEYBITZ  manufactured in Western Australia.
I've covered the leaves chipboard with Rub'n'Buff to co-ordinate the colours.
Before I added the Tuatara to my LO I thought it looked really cute in our back yard here in Queensland, which is the reason I've popped him onto some rock 'medium':)

I've had so much fun trying out the new textures on this LO that I've also decided to submit it to
Supplies used:
My Minds Eye (smallest bird) and Basic Grey pps & die cuts (Basics/inventory, Phat Chance and Periphery); Glimmer Mist (Monster Mash and Key Lime Pie); Versa Color inks (old rose and olive); Tim Holtz Distress Powder (vintage photo); clear Utee; Prima Marketing word sticker (true beauty); Bo Bunny alpha combo stickers (et cetera); Matisse  Impasto and "Weipa calcined bauxite" (rock) mediums; Stampin' Up (smaller) bird punch ; A li'l'Somethin' corduroy and denim birds; Helmar adhesives; Plaid Stencil paint (cactus); Amaco Rub'n'buff (antique gold); Lincraft (Elicia) Ruffle yarn.

Again, thank you so much for popping over - I hope you're having a great start to the week...I hope to have more for you tomorrow  {hugs'n'hearts} Mazz xxx

Enjoy the little things...

Sharing another LO completed while on the Easter w/e retreat....

...for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things...
I just love this photo of my niece and nephew, cuddling for an 'after school dvd', that I've been wanting to scrap for a while now.
I haven't scrapped these two for what seems like ages.
I've created this LO for the
As you can see I have 'rotated' the sketch so my photos would both fit.
I used this chipboard chair because of the 'old style' furniture that I saw in the photo
Naturally, the two owls represent Charlotte and Leo "Mates" The metal owl charm has been heat-embossed.

I've thoroughly enjoyed (as usual) creating with the Purple Pumpkin sketch - and making it 'mine'.
 Supplies used:
C/S: Bazzill; pps: Bo Bunny (welcome home);  My2Angels charm and pin (mates); Kaiser Rubon (title); Flower soft (nut brown); Tim Holtz distress ink & distress embossing powder (vintage photo and broken china); Purple Pumpkin button and book paper round; Dusty Attic c/b (Vintage Armchair);  Prima Marketing mask; Glimmer Mist (antique bronze);  Eye Candy Magic hand made flower (top right); Helmar adhesives.
Thank You so much for popping over - I'm hopeing to have another tomorrow after the camera was returned to its 'spot' by DH this afternoon LOL.

{hugs} have a great week - Mazz xxx

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
