POHUTUKAWA

POHUTUKAWA (The New Zealand Christmas tree) 2012.
When Tiff over at “This One’s a winner” announced a Christmas challenge for December I jumped at the chance to scrap these awesome photos taken during our New Zealand (NZ) trip last year.

One of my first loves of flowers comes from the simply stunning Pohutukawa (New Zealand Christmas) trees that are in full bloom during December in NZ - specially along the beaches and coastal areas. Do you remember a previous post about the Pohutukawa when challenged by Tiff?

Pohutukawas are still nostalgic for me -  awakening childhood   (and its really not that long ago lol) memories - including our family Christmas bbq at Tui Park  - the park and adjacent beach was always full of the crimson/deep red Pohutukawa at that time.

Supplies used:
Bazzil cardstock; Bella! glittered chips chipboard title; Christmas stamps (thanks for the inspo Tina ), red StazOn ink; die cut flourishes; Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive; my2angels Sugar beads and charms,

Thanks to all who popped over, happy weekend!!! hearts ‘n’ happiness xxx Mazz xxx

black magic ATC's & vintage tags...

photos taken at my2angels class by Tracy Keilty
Here are my takes on the 2 swaps I'm participating in this month.
First up the 'vintage' tags for the Scrap With Us Scrapping Group - I'm glad the theme was not more specific coz I thought it was about time I created something not so feminine - just for a change ;)
For the backgrounds on the tags and the ATC's I've been inspired to use techniques taught by the amazing talented Tracy Kielty in last week's card class at my2angels - oh what messy fun we had too ;)
For these tags I used the same method as in the cards...'splotches' of Tim Holtz Distress Stains and a 'circle' of Distress paint. You may even notice the Graphite Ferro that I love the most as its the messiest - and I reckon it makes the cogs look like tyres or steering wheels - don't you agree?
Supplies used:
Inkssentials Craft tags; Kraft card stock; Feature Art (Golden Memories) pps; Viva Ferro (graphite); Tim Holts Distress Paint (bundles sage) and Distress Stain (rusty hinge, frayed burlap, vintage photo, antique bronze); stash cogs (wood, chipboard & metal); Helmar adhesives.

Black Magic ATC's

These are my ATC's for the Ideal ATC Swap group October/November "Black Magic" theme. We weren't obliged to crate a 'Halloween" ATC- so long as the ATC was predominantly black and orange...for the background I've used the same technique as the "MAN" on the card in the first photo.
I just covered the ATC with black Stazon ink and PVA glue, then heat set it. Again what a fun sticky mess that was!!!
The moon and the pumpkin charms, naturally are from (2 different) my2angels kits :)

Supplies Used:
Inkssentials black ATC cards; Fancy Pants (Trick or Treat) fussy cut pps and stickers; my2angels charms; Perfect pearls mists (mandarin); orange embossing powder; Scrapping Outback Stazon & VersaMark inks; onion bag net; Boo! ribbon; Craft Smart PVA glue; Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive.
That's it for today...Thanks so much for popping over...take care; hearts 'n' hugs xxx Mazz xxx

Sweet (Santa's knee) & Victorian Lady

G'day all...my apologies for being MIA recently, I've had lots going on lately and simply haven't had the time to get my blog up to date, so today I'm sharing TWO creations.
First up Scrapping Outback's October Challenge is to Scraplift with the criteria being to have stamping and ribbon...here's Julie Hill's beautiful creation:

Here's my take...Ah yes, yours truly with two adorable grand daughters on Santa's knee - Christmas 2012 (they say you're NEVER too old for sitting on Santa's knee lol)
The stamping is down the bottom right of the LO and hopefully you can spot the organza (white) ribbon across the top of the LO.
My circle interpretation is a plastic doily that I found in a cheap shop.
For this LO I wanted to portray just HOW HAPPY these girls make me - hence the sub-title.
The white flowers are from Prima and the centres are creamy latte sugar beads over at my2angels.
For the chipboard title (Sweet) from Scrapping Outback,  I've used Jules' Perfect Pearls technique again I must say I'm really happy with the Perfect Pearls Mist too.
The hearts, butterflies and arrow are fussy cut from the pp.

Vintage + bling

Yes, that's the theme for this month's embellishment swap and here's my share - tags with handmade flowers. I'm pretty happy with the way they've turned out - specially with the centres made out of the gorgeous and so versatile my2angels' sugar beads.

Have a great week all, Thanks for looking.

Dargonfly tag swap

9 dragonfly tags
hi all,
Today I'm sharing 9 simple tags created for a swap.
The theme is obviously dragonflies :)
I like that these could easily be used on cards or layouts and I'm very impressed with the dragonfly's texture formed by the Stone-Art sand that my2angels has amongst lots of multi-mediums :)
supplies used:
Ranger tags, Basic Grey (green at heart) & Fabscraps (shabby chic) pps;  Viva Stone-Art sand; Fence die; coloured vellum; Versa Magic (midnight black) & Emboss It (clear) inks; Stamp-It embossing powder (enchanted); Helmar adhesives; stamp from $2 shop.
Thanks for looking all, happy weekend hugs 'n' hearts xxx Mazz xxx

LOVE you to infinity

LOVE you to infinity (Levi Aug 2010)
You may have noticed that I lost my mojo L  about 4-5 weeks ago and I just don’t seem to be able to come up with ideas on my own like I did…so I’ve been ‘googling’ and ‘stalking’ all over the place. LOL.  My last post was ATC’s in an attempt to share (and trade) just a little piece of art with others and get inspired.
Yesterday I was unmotivated again, until I saw an absolutely adorable LO on the lovely talented Michele Winston's blog.
Thanks so much Michele your delectable “girly” LO was a Godsend.
Without your inspiration I don’t think I would have been able to participate in this month’s colour challenge over at Scrapping Outback.

SO’s July challenge is to use wintery colours, so I’ve used mainly browns with a little complimentary blue.
The photo is of my precious DGS.
I wanted the LO to be a little ‘whimsical’ feel, but not so overwhelming with the dim colours.

Supplies used: Fabscraps tag & pps (shabby chic fleur); Adornit alphas (buckaroo); Ocean Shell New Zealand (Kiwi); Twiddleybitz c/b (small cluster of mushrooms & fern leaf large); Kaisercraft stamp, pearls and rhinestones; Ranger Archival Ink (sepia); Prima resist canvas and stencil; Ranger dry glitter (rock candy); Stampendous embossing enamel (aged spice & aged teal); my2angels sugar beads (blue lemonade & mud cake);  Carl craft punch; Viva Metal Effect & Stone-Art (old gold & iron); my2angels hand made embellishments (Love you to Infinity Charming Key Chain and shabby love charm (hugs & kisses); Claudine Hellmuth Studio multi –medium (matt); Glimmer Mists (walnut gold & iridescent gold); Emboss-it Dabber; Perfect Pearl mists (cappuccino & blue raspberry); Plaid Crackle medium, Adhesives (Helmar 450, Tombo aqua and Craft smart), other: fibre, elf sticker, heart, hat netting, gel pen, flowers.
Well till next time all...hugs 'n' hearts xxx Mazz xxx

Trading - cards & tags

Greetings all, I've got a few busy weeks coming up - including a mixed media techniques course over at Big Picture Classes and a weekend (in NZ) to visit my elder son and his fast growing grandkids...SO...I thought I'd share the 'swaps' I'm participating in this month instead.

First up Artist Trading Cards..."Time" theme...

Did you know you don't have to be a 'scrap booker' to be an ATC participant or trader??

did you know "Artist Trading Cards are 2.5 by 3.5 inch miniature works of art. They are works of art specifically made to be freely traded --- thus the name, Artist Trading Card (ATC). The concept of ATCs was developed by m. vänçi stirnemann an artist from Zürich, Switzerland. Artist Trading Cards are made to be traded in person or by correspondence. ATCs were first traded in North America at The New Gallery in Calgary, Alberta on September 27, 1997. " excerpt from The Artist Trading Card Committee introduction.

Supplies used: Ranger ATC's (Kraft), Stampendous embossing enamel (Aged Ochre); Viva Ferro (Old Gold); Viva Inka-Gold (steel blue); Glimmer Mist (Bronze); Helmar scrap dots and 450 quick dry adhesives; Chatterbox chipboard wings; circle punch; Kaiser clock clear stamp; Dymo tape; Emboss It ink (clear); Tim Holtz Game spinners.

Secondly Luggage Tag swap... "Floral" theme...

These tags were inspired by my 'embellishment guru' friend Tracy over at my2angels...they're having a 'yellow & gold' week...and all their range of yellow & gold products are all on sale.  A reason to smile - I've got a heap of  my2angels' stash, so I didn't even have to make and order and have DLH pick up this week LOL.

Supplies used: patterned cardstock from stash; Resin Cabochons Flowers; skeleton leaves; Perfect Pearls mists (sunflower sparkle & heirloom gold); Idea-ology chitchat stickers & reinforcers; Distress Stain (brushed pewter); glimmer mists (silver, yellow daisy, mustard seed); huge doses of my favourite medium Claudine Hellmuth( great as a mild adhesive as well as for colouring anything including metal); black felt ribbonHelmar 450 quick dry adhesive - btw - that's the major difference between Tracy and me, Tracy always uses her hot glue gun); Large Silver Key Charms; silver circle pendants; tulle; white ribbon bows.

Gotta get onto my next 'embellishment swap' now ... - 'grey/silver & flying' theme...any thoughts???

Till next time....keep smiling.... hugs 'n' hearts xxx Mazz xxxx

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
