RAD! Tutorial

Here's a wee tutorial. I made this one up when I made up the project for Scrapbook Creations project that was published last year.  I do hope you will give this ago, and enjoy :)

 

Materials list:

• Cardstock: Bazzil;
• Pps, journal dies, tag and sticker: Kaiser;
• Embossing powders: Stampendous and Tim Holtz Distress Powder;
• Fence-frame: Crafters Workshop template;
• Angel Wings and Clock Key Charm; string; bronze ball & chain :  My2Angels;
• Key hole: Tim Holtz Idea-Ology;
• Chipboard mini Cogs: ScrapWare;
• “On the Edge” Die-cut: Sizzix /Tim Holtz;
• Ink: VersaMark and Tim Holtz Distress stains;
• Embossing folder: Provo Craft (script)
• Deep groove ball bearings: recycled from husband’s toolbox in our garage;
• Tan leather on photo was cut off an old belt
• Magic Mount and Helmar 450 quick dry glue; button, mesh, staples, distress tool, paint brush, heat gun, and black sharpie pen.

Steps:

 

1. Distress the edges of the 12x12 Kaiser (Attitude) paper and ink the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Broken China distress stains. Moisten with water using a paint brush to slightly curl the edges. Leave to dry.
2. Tear* 1 piece of 12x24 cm paper and adhere 1cm from left and 4cm from the top corner.  Tear 1 piece of 8x10cm paper and adhere 1.5cm from bottom and 2.5cm from right edge.
3. Using the VersaMark stamp pad, swipe the Dazzle watermark ink all over the fence template.  On the cardstock, heat emboss with the Stampendous (aged copper) embossing enamel. Tear this to approximately 26x20 cm and adhere 5cm from the top and 4cm from the left edge.
4. Using Magic Mount*, adhere the photo on top of the heat-embossed (black) cardstock.
5. Cut out the ‘on the edge cog’ with the die-cutting machine, then randomly heat-emboss using Aged copper  and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress embossing powders. Adhere to the right hand side (under) the black embossed cardstock.
6. Adhere the mesh, orange rubber matting and the bicycle chain sticker on top of the black embossed cardstock – under the photo. 
7. Using the die-cutting machine and any Provo Craft dry-embossing folder – create a pattern on the chipboard cog. Then heat emboss randomly again with the aged copper and vintage photo embossing powders. Adhere to the right-hand side of the photo, together with the metal cog, white button and recycled ‘deep groove ball bearings’.
8. Using VersaMark again, heat-emboss the metal key and lock** adhere to the layout as shown.  Staple the twine as shown.
9. Thread the my2angels’ ball and chain through the tag hole and adhere. Staple the top left for extra support.
10. Adhere the recycled belt** leather along the bottom of the photo.
11. Journal using the black sharpie pen.

 

Design Tips:

 

*Don’t be scared to ‘rip, tear and be uneven’ in this kind of ‘shabby’ Layout…this is how I loved portraying the mud and dirt on the mountain bike track.

**Instead of just ‘throwing out’ old clothing, zips, belts, mats they can easily be cut up and used creatively on layouts and projects.

Sisters & friends

I came across this photo recently when I was trying to sort some old ones.

 

My Aunty must have given this to me at some time, it even has her handwritten details on the back.

These two are my cousins and both now have daughters of their own, so I thought the LO quite apt, for this challenge.

I've opted to take up the March colour challenge over at Mad About Scrapping:

I've used a gorgeous Echo Park mini kit, "hello spring" that I purchased from one of Mad About Scrapping's Friday sales last year.

 

 I really love the soft feminine baby feel about this colour combination.

 

You might even spot the delicious fairy floss and  mint crush sugar beads I glued on the butterflies - just to make them 'pop out'.

 

There's not been much else to do lately in this part of the country - it seems to just keep on pouring with rain...and I have to ask - where is it all coming from?

Introducing Robin.....

This month, 2 of my cyber scrappy friends - Anne & Lizzy encouraged me to visit Scrapfriends Scrapbooking as they have a challenge with a difference...

- To scrap my very first scrapbooking LO... well the first challenge was to find a copy of the LO the next part of the challenge for me is actually being able to SEE the layout...LOL...Actually its probably just as well - my scrapbooking surely has changed since 2004...(hasn’t it? lol)

I’m afraid this very first page is in a 21st birthday album that my DS accidentally lost《not lol》...and not only did I use original photos, but I didn't have negatives, naturally I now know better.  This first LO is of that son when he was first born and his birth notice (1983) from the NZ Herald.
 Lucky my DLH thought to take photos of the pages in the album which I saved on a CD and I’ve found it just in time to share.
